How to Cure Lodge Cast Iron?

Wash the pan with warm water and a small amount of mild soap if needed

Scrub off any rust, old seasoning, or stuck-on residue

Dry the pan completely with a towel

Heat the pan on the stove or in the oven to remove all moisture

Apply a very thin layer of Lodge Cast Iron Seasoning or neutral oil to the entire surface

Wipe off all excess oil until the pan looks almost dry

Place the pan upside down in a preheated oven at 450°F to 500°F

Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips

Bake for 1 hour

Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside

Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 3 times for a stronger seasoning

Use the pan regularly and lightly oil after cleaning to maintain the cure
