Wash the pan with warm water and a small amount of mild soap if needed
Scrub off any rust or old residue
Dry the pan completely
Apply a very thin layer of oil to the entire surface, inside and out
Wipe off all excess oil so it looks almost dry
Place the pan upside down in the oven
Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips
Bake at 450 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour
Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside
Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 3 times
Use the pan regularly to maintain the seasoning
Dry the pan immediately after washing
Apply a light coat of oil after each use if needed
