How To Season A Cast Iron?

Wash the pan with warm water and a small amount of mild soap if needed

Scrub off any rust or old residue

Dry the pan completely

Apply a very thin layer of oil to the entire surface, inside and out

Wipe off all excess oil so it looks almost dry

Place the pan upside down in the oven

Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips

Bake at 450 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour

Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside

Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 3 times

Use the pan regularly to maintain the seasoning

Dry the pan immediately after washing

Apply a light coat of oil after each use if needed
