Wash the pan with hot water and a small amount of mild soap if needed
Scrub off rust, stuck-on food, or old flaky seasoning with a stiff brush or steel wool
Dry the pan completely with a towel
Heat the pan on the stove or in the oven until all moisture is gone
Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil to the entire pan, inside and out
Wipe off as much oil as possible so the surface looks nearly dry
Place the pan upside down in a preheated oven at 450 to 500°F
Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips
Bake for 1 hour
Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside
Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 4 times for stronger seasoning
Use the pan regularly and dry it after each wash to maintain the seasoning
