Remove the plant from its pot

Rinse soil from the roots

Cut off all brown, mushy, or foul-smelling roots with sterilized scissors

Keep only firm, white, healthy roots

Disinfect the pruning tool between cuts

Let the roots air-dry briefly

Repot in fresh, well-draining soil

Use a clean pot with drainage holes

Do not reuse contaminated soil

Water lightly after repotting

Wait until the top layer of soil dries before watering again

Reduce watering frequency

Improve drainage and airflow

Move the plant to appropriate light

Remove severely infected plants if the rot is too advanced
