Chill the cake slightly so it is easier to cut
Place the heart cake on a flat cutting surface
Use a long, sharp knife
Cut straight down through the center of the heart from the top point to the bottom notch
Cut each half into even slices from the center outward
For smaller pieces, cut each half again into narrower slices
Wipe the knife clean between cuts for neat slices
Serve the slices carefully with a cake server or spatula
