Score the front paper face with a utility knife along the marked line
Snap the sheetrock along the scored line
Cut the back paper layer with the utility knife
Use a drywall saw for outlets, corners, or curved cuts
Use a keyhole saw or jab saw for small openings
Trim rough edges with a utility knife or drywall rasp
Wear safety glasses and a dust mask
Support the sheetrock firmly while cutting
