Open the Facebook app or website
Go to Settings and privacy
Tap Settings
Open Accounts Center
Select Personal details
Tap Account ownership and control
Select Deactivation or deletion
Choose the Facebook account linked to Messenger
Select Deactivate account
Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm
Log out of Messenger after deactivation
If needed, uninstall the Messenger app from your device
