Turn off both vehicles and remove the keys
Make sure the jumper cables are not touching each other or any metal parts
Remove the black clamp from the grounded metal on the dead vehicle
Remove the black clamp from the negative terminal of the donor battery
Remove the red clamp from the positive terminal of the donor battery
Remove the red clamp from the positive terminal of the dead battery
Keep the clamps separated after removal
Close the hoods and store the cables properly
