How To Dispose Of Paint?
Check the paint can label for disposal instructions
Keep latex or water-based paint in the original container if possible
Let small amounts of latex paint dry completely before disposal
Mix latex paint with cat litter, sand, or paint hardener to speed drying
Dispose of fully dried latex paint in the trash if local rules allow
Take oil-based paint, stains, and solvents to a household hazardous waste facility
Never pour paint down sinks, toilets, storm drains, or onto the ground
Never put liquid paint in regular trash
Remove the lid and let empty paint cans dry before recycling or trash disposal, if allowed locally
Recycle metal paint cans only if your local recycling program accepts them
Donate usable leftover paint to neighbors, schools, charities, or community groups
Store leftover paint tightly sealed in a cool, dry place until you can dispose of it properly
