Convert the divisor to a whole number by moving its decimal point right the needed places
Move the decimal point in the dividend right the same number of places
Divide as with whole numbers
Place the decimal point in the quotient when the dividend’s digits run out to the left of the decimal
If needed, add trailing zeros to the dividend to continue the division
Stop when the remainder is 0 or when the decimal terminates/repeats as required
If the divisor is larger than the dividend, write 0 in the integer part and continue dividing after the decimal point
