On desktop, press Shift + Enter
On mobile, tap the return/enter key on the keyboard
If the keyboard sends the message instead of adding a line, look for a line break key or switch to the return key
In some cases, use Alt + Enter on Windows
On Mac, use Option + Enter if Shift + Enter does not work
