Trim the quilt edges square
Sew the quilt layers together if needed
Cut binding strips on the bias or straight grain
Join strips end to end to make one long binding
Press the binding in half lengthwise, wrong sides together
Start attaching the binding to the front of the quilt
Leave a tail unsewn at the beginning
Align raw binding edges with the quilt edge
Sew the binding to the quilt with a consistent seam allowance
Miter the corners as you sew
Stop before the starting point and join the ends
Finish sewing the binding to the quilt
Fold the binding over to the back of the quilt
Hand stitch or machine stitch the binding to the back
Secure the corners neatly
Press the finished binding flat
Trim any loose threads
