Unplug the washer
Turn off the water supply
Locate the drain hose or drain pump filter
Place towels and a shallow pan or bucket under the drain area
Lower the drain hose into the bucket if your washer has one
Remove the drain hose cap or plug if present
Open the drain pump filter slowly to let water out
Clean the filter after the water drains
Reinstall the hose cap or filter securely
Check for leaks
Plug the washer back in only after everything is dry and secure
