Unplug the washer
Turn off the water supply
Place towels or a shallow pan under the drain area
Locate the drain hose or drain filter
Remove the drain hose from the standpipe or wall drain
Lower the hose into a bucket to let water flow out
Open the drain filter or pump access panel if your washer has one
Slowly unscrew the filter to release trapped water
Empty the bucket as needed
Reinstall the hose or filter securely
Plug the washer back in after draining is complete
