Check the type: astringent or non-astringent
Eat non-astringent persimmons when they are firm or slightly soft
Eat astringent persimmons only when fully ripe and very soft
Remove the stem and leafy top
Slice it into wedges or bite into it whole if desired
Peel the skin if you prefer a smoother texture
Eat the flesh and discard the seeds if present
Avoid eating unripe astringent persimmons
Store ripe persimmons in the refrigerator if not eating immediately
