Make sure the check is payable to you
Turn the check over and locate the endorsement area on the back
Write your signature exactly as it appears on the front of the check
Write “Pay to the order of” followed by the other person’s full name
Sign your name below that endorsement
Give the endorsed check to the other person
Check whether the bank or app requires the other person to be present
Use a restrictive endorsement if you want to limit how the check can be used
Do not endorse the check until you are ready to hand it over
