Connect the external display to your Mac
Open System Settings
Click Displays
Select the external display
Choose Extend Display
If needed, arrange the displays by dragging them into position
Close System Settings
If the display is mirrored, turn off Mirror Displays
If using a dock or adapter, make sure it supports extended display mode
