Fill the tank completely and reset the trip odometer
Drive normally until you need to refuel
Record the miles driven from the trip odometer
Record the gallons needed to refill the tank
Divide miles driven by gallons used
MPG = miles ÷ gallons
Example: 300 miles ÷ 10 gallons = 30 MPG
