Use the correct fuel for your lighter
Work in a well-ventilated area away from flames and heat
Turn the lighter upside down
Shake the fuel canister if required by the manufacturer
Press the fuel nozzle firmly into the refill valve
Fill in short bursts
Stop when a small amount of fuel starts to escape
Let the lighter sit for a few minutes before using it
Adjust the flame if your lighter has an adjustment wheel
Check for leaks before lighting it
