Find the Big Dipper
Locate the two stars at the outer edge of the Big Dipper’s bowl
Draw an imaginary line from the lower pointer star through the upper pointer star
Extend that line about five times the distance between those two stars
Look for the bright star at the end of that line
Confirm it is in the Little Dipper handle
Use Polaris as the North Star
