Open Gmail
In the search bar, type `is:unread`
Press Enter
To find unread mail in a specific folder, type `in:inbox is:unread`
To find unread mail from a specific sender, type `from:sender@example.com is:unread`
To find unread mail with a label, type `label:labelname is:unread`
To mark unread mail as read, select the messages and click Mark as read
To keep unread mail visible in your inbox, go to Settings and enable the unread inbox view
