Enter your data in a single column or row
Click an empty cell where you want the variance result
Use `=VAR.S(range)` for a sample variance
Use `=VAR.P(range)` for a population variance
Replace `range` with your data range, such as `A1:A10`
Press Enter
To use the function menu, go to the Formulas tab
Click More Functions
Select Statistical
Choose VAR.S or VAR.P
Select your data range and confirm
Press Enter
