Wash the area with car soap and water
Dry the surface completely
Remove dirt, wax, and grease with rubbing alcohol or wax remover
Sand the chipped area lightly with fine-grit sandpaper
Clean away sanding dust
Apply primer if bare metal is exposed
Let the primer dry fully
Apply matching touch-up paint in thin layers
Let each layer dry before adding the next
Build the paint up until it is level with the surrounding area
Apply clear coat if needed
Let the repair cure completely
Wet sand lightly if necessary to smooth the finish
Polish the area to blend the repair
Wax the area after the paint has fully cured
