Remove the pit from a ripe peach and wash off all fruit flesh
Let the pit dry for a few days
Crack the hard outer shell carefully to extract the seed, if desired
Place the seed in a damp paper towel or moist peat moss
Seal it in a plastic bag or container with some air space
Refrigerate it at 34–40°F for 8–12 weeks
Check periodically to keep the medium moist, not wet
Plant the seed in a pot with well-draining soil after it sprouts
Place the pot in a warm, bright location
Keep the soil evenly moist until the seedling emerges
Transplant outdoors after the seedling is strong and frost danger has passed
