Check if the chat is still visible on another device where your account is logged in
Download your Instagram data from Accounts Center to see if message data is included
Ask the other person in the chat to send screenshots or copy the conversation
Check if you saved any message content in notifications, email, or device backups
Restore your phone from a backup made before the chat was deleted
Use Instagram’s “Download Your Information” request to look for archived message data
Review any linked Facebook Messenger conversations if your accounts are connected
Contact Instagram Support if you believe the deletion was caused by an account issue
If the chat was unsent by the other person, it cannot be recovered from Instagram
If the chat was permanently deleted and not included in a backup or data download, it cannot be recovered
