Rinse the stain with cold water as soon as possible
Blot, do not rub
Apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent or dish soap
Gently work the soap into the fabric
Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes
Rinse again with cold water
Repeat if needed
For dried stains, soak the item in cold water for 30 minutes to several hours
Use an enzyme stain remover if available
For white fabrics, apply 3% hydrogen peroxide to the stain
Test hydrogen peroxide on a hidden area first
For tough stains, make a paste of baking soda and cold water
Gently brush off the paste after it sits
Wash the item in cold water
Check the stain before drying
Air-dry only until the stain is gone
Avoid hot water and machine drying until the stain is removed
