Blot up wet paint immediately with a clean cloth or paper towel
Scrape off excess dried paint gently with a dull knife or spoon
Check the paint type on the can if possible
For water-based paint, dab the spot with warm water and a little dish soap
Blot repeatedly with a clean cloth until the paint lifts
For stubborn water-based paint, use rubbing alcohol on a cloth and blot the area
For oil-based paint, apply a small amount of paint thinner or mineral spirits to a cloth
Test any cleaner on a hidden area of the rug first
Work from the outside of the stain toward the center
Avoid rubbing hard to prevent spreading the paint
Rinse the area lightly with clean water after cleaning
Blot dry with towels
Place a fan near the rug to help it dry faster
Repeat the process if needed
Vacuum the rug once it is fully dry
