Keep the baby upright as much as possible
Use saline nose drops in each nostril
Gently suction the nose with a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator
Offer frequent small feeds to keep the baby hydrated
Use a cool-mist humidifier in the baby’s room
Run a steamy shower and sit with the baby in the bathroom for a few minutes
Pat or gently rub the baby’s back
Keep the baby’s sleeping area free of smoke, dust, and strong odors
Check with a pediatrician before using any medicine
Seek urgent medical care if the baby has trouble breathing, blue lips, poor feeding, fever in a young infant, or seems very sleepy or weak
