Clean seat seams, carpet edges, and nearby surfaces
Wipe hard surfaces with an all-purpose cleaner
Replace or clean floor mats
Wash removable fabric covers if possible
Leave the car doors open to air out
Run the fan and air conditioning with fresh air mode
Place activated charcoal or odor absorbers in the car
Repeat cleaning if the smell remains
Have the upholstery professionally cleaned if needed
