Stop moving and keep your head still
Lie on your side if that feels better
Sit up slowly when getting out of bed
Avoid sudden head turns
Keep your eyes open and focus on a fixed point
Breathe slowly and deeply
Drink water if you may be dehydrated
Eat something if you have not eaten for a while
Avoid alcohol and sedatives
Sleep with your head slightly elevated
Use a pillow to support your neck
Try the Epley maneuver if your dizziness is from positional vertigo
Avoid driving or standing quickly until it passes
See a doctor if it keeps happening, is severe, or comes with chest pain, weakness, fainting, or trouble speaking
