Wash all bedding, blankets, and pet items in hot water and dry on high heat
Sprinkle food-grade diatomaceous earth lightly on carpets and pet resting areas, then vacuum after 24 to 48 hours
Use a steam cleaner on carpets, upholstery, and cracks where fleas hide
Mop hard floors with hot water and a mild natural cleaner
Treat pets with veterinarian-approved flea control
Comb pets daily with a fine-tooth flea comb and remove fleas in soapy water
Place bowls of soapy water under night lights to trap adult fleas
Sprinkle salt lightly on carpets, leave for 24 to 48 hours, then vacuum thoroughly
Wash pet collars, toys, and soft items regularly
Seal cracks and crevices where fleas may hide
Keep grass trimmed and outdoor pet areas clean
Repeat cleaning and treatment every few days for at least 2 to 3 weeks
