Clean and treat nearby equipment, feeders, and waterers
Replace bedding with fresh, clean material
Check birds daily for mites, scabs, and irritation
Quarantine new birds before adding them to the flock
Keep the coop dry and well ventilated
Reduce overcrowding
Use diatomaceous earth only if labeled safe and used according to directions
Contact a veterinarian or poultry specialist for severe infestations
Dispose of heavily infested materials and equipment if needed
