Use saline nasal rinses or saline spray several times daily
Stay well-hydrated
Rest and get adequate sleep
Use a warm compress over the face to help relieve pressure
Take steam showers or breathe steam from a bowl of warm water
Use a humidifier if the air is dry
Consider a short course of decongestant nasal spray (e.g., oxymetazoline) for up to 3 days only
Consider an oral decongestant if safe for you (avoid if you have high blood pressure, heart rhythm issues, or certain other conditions)
Use intranasal corticosteroid spray (e.g., fluticasone or mometasone) as directed
Use pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen if safe for you
Avoid smoking and secondhand smoke
Manage allergies with antihistamines or allergy treatment if allergies trigger symptoms
Seek medical care if symptoms last more than 10 days, worsen after initial improvement, or are severe (high fever, significant facial pain, swelling around the eyes)
Seek urgent care immediately for vision changes, severe headache, stiff neck, confusion, or swelling/redness around the eyes
Ask a clinician whether antibiotics are appropriate if bacterial sinusitis is suspected
Follow up with a clinician if you have recurrent sinus infections or symptoms that keep returning
