Wash and peel the carrots if desired
Trim off the ends
Choose a box grater, hand grater, or food processor
Hold the grater on a stable surface or over a bowl
Grate the carrot by moving it down the grater in steady strokes
Stop when the carrot gets too small to hold safely
Use a cut-resistant glove or food holder if needed
Collect the grated carrots from the bowl or surface
Repeat with the remaining carrots
Clean the grater immediately after use
