Use a 5-gallon bucket with drainage holes in the bottom and lower sides
Place 4–6 inches of potting mix or compost-rich soil in the bucket
Cut seed potatoes into pieces with at least 1–2 eyes each, then let them dry for 1–2 days
Place 2–3 seed pieces on top of the soil with eyes facing up
Cover the seed pieces with 3–4 inches of soil
Water lightly until the soil is evenly moist, not soggy
Put the bucket in a sunny spot with 6–8 hours of sunlight daily
Add more soil around the stems as they grow, leaving the top leaves exposed
Keep hilling until the bucket is nearly full
Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist
Feed with a balanced fertilizer if needed during growth
Harvest new potatoes after flowering if desired
Stop watering when the tops yellow and die back
Dump out the bucket and collect the mature potatoes after the plants finish growing
