Choose a healthy, disease-free rose stem
Cut a 6 to 8 inch stem with at least 3 to 5 nodes
Make the bottom cut just below a node at a 45-degree angle
Remove the flower, buds, and lower leaves
Keep only 1 or 2 top leaves if needed
Dip the cut end in rooting hormone
Fill a pot with moist, well-draining potting mix
Make a hole in the soil with a pencil or stick
Insert the stem into the hole
Firm the soil around the stem
Water lightly to settle the soil
Cover the cutting with a plastic bag or humidity dome
Place the pot in bright, indirect sunlight
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Remove the cover briefly each day for air circulation
Check for roots after 3 to 8 weeks
Transplant the cutting after strong new growth appears
