Measure the window width and decide how far beyond the frame the rod should extend
Mark the desired rod height above the window
Use a level to make sure both bracket marks are even
Locate wall studs if possible
Mark the bracket hole positions on the wall
Drill pilot holes at the marked spots
Insert wall anchors if not drilling into studs
Screw the brackets into place
Place the curtain rod onto the brackets
Attach the curtains to the rod
Set the rod into the brackets and secure any bracket hardware
Check that the rod is level and firmly mounted
