Wash your hands
Clean the blister gently with soap and water
Pat the area dry
Do not pop the blister if possible
Cover it with a blister bandage or nonstick sterile dressing
Change the dressing daily or if it gets wet or dirty
Reduce pressure on the toe by wearing roomy shoes
Use moleskin or padding around the blister, not directly on it
Keep the area clean and dry
If the blister breaks, leave the skin flap in place
Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment only if the skin is open
Watch for redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or worsening pain
Seek medical care if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or signs of infection
