Stop shaving the area for a few days
Apply a warm compress for 5 to 10 minutes
Gently exfoliate the area 2 to 3 times per week
Use a fragrance-free moisturizer
Apply 1% hydrocortisone cream thinly for up to 2 to 3 days
Use salicylic acid or glycolic acid products if tolerated
Use benzoyl peroxide wash if bumps are inflamed
Avoid picking, squeezing, or scratching
Shave with a clean, sharp single-blade or electric razor
Shave in the direction of hair growth
Use shaving gel or cream
Avoid stretching the skin while shaving
Rinse with cool water after shaving
Wear loose clothing over the area
See a clinician if bumps are painful, infected, or keep coming back
