Eat iron-rich foods such as spinach, lentils, beans, chickpeas, tofu, red meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and fortified cereals
Include vitamin C-rich foods with meals such as oranges, lemons, amla, guava, tomatoes, and bell peppers
Take iron supplements only as prescribed by your doctor
Take folic acid supplements as prescribed by your doctor
Eat foods rich in vitamin B12 such as milk, curd, cheese, eggs, fish, and meat
Avoid tea and coffee with meals
Avoid taking calcium supplements at the same time as iron supplements
Cook in iron utensils when possible
Eat small, frequent meals if nausea limits food intake
Treat worm infections if advised by your doctor
Get regular antenatal checkups and hemoglobin testing
Follow your doctor’s advice if anemia is severe or not improving
