Wash your hands
Check the Ozempic pen label and dose
Inspect the solution; do not use it if it looks cloudy, colored, or has particles
Attach a new needle to the pen
Remove both needle caps
Prime the pen if required by the pen instructions
Select the prescribed dose
Choose an injection site on the belly at least 2 inches away from the navel
Avoid areas that are tender, bruised, red, hard, or scarred
Clean the skin with an alcohol swab and let it dry
Pinch the skin if instructed by your healthcare provider
Insert the needle into the skin at the angle recommended for the pen
Press and hold the dose button until the dose counter returns to 0
Keep the needle in place for the recommended count after the dose is delivered
Remove the needle from the skin
Release the skin
Dispose of the needle in a sharps container
Replace the pen cap
Rotate injection sites each week
