Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
Gather the tirzepatide pen or syringe, alcohol swab, and a sharps container
Check the medication label, dose, and expiration date
Inspect the medication for damage, discoloration, or particles
Choose an injection site on the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
Avoid areas that are tender, bruised, red, hard, scarred, or irritated
Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry
Remove the cap from the pen or prepare the syringe as directed
If using a pen, follow the device instructions for priming only if required
Pinch the skin if instructed for your device or body type
Insert the needle at the angle recommended for your device
Press the injection button or depress the plunger fully
Keep the needle in place for the recommended count before removing it
Remove the needle straight out from the skin
Apply gentle pressure with gauze or cotton if needed
Do not rub the injection site
Dispose of the needle, syringe, or pen needle in a sharps container
Store the medication according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Rotate injection sites with each dose
