Turn off power to your HVAC system at the breaker
Remove the old thermostat cover
Take a photo of the existing wiring
Label each wire with the included labels
Remove the old thermostat base
Check compatibility using the Google Home app or Nest compatibility checker
Mount the Nest base plate to the wall
Pull the wires through the center opening
Connect each wire to the matching Nest terminal
Attach the Nest display to the base
Restore power to the HVAC system
Follow the setup steps in the Google Home app
Connect the thermostat to Wi-Fi
Configure your system type and preferences
Test heating and cooling functions
