Read the Graco car seat manual and your vehicle owner’s manual
Check the car seat’s weight, height, and age limits
Choose the correct seating position in the vehicle
Decide whether to use LATCH or the seat belt
Place the car seat on the vehicle seat in the correct direction
For rear-facing installation, recline the seat to the proper angle
For forward-facing installation, position the seat upright as directed
Attach the lower anchors or thread the seat belt through the correct belt path
Press the car seat firmly into the vehicle seat while tightening the strap or belt
Lock the seat belt if required by your vehicle
Make sure the car seat does not move more than 1 inch side to side or front to back at the belt path
Attach and adjust the top tether if installing forward-facing and required
Place the harness straps at or below shoulder level for rear-facing
Place the harness straps at or above shoulder level for forward-facing
Buckle the harness and tighten until snug
Check that the chest clip is at armpit level
Confirm the car seat is installed according to the model-specific instructions
Recheck the installation after use and periodically over time
