How to Lower PH in Swimming Pool?

Test the pool water with a reliable pH test kit

Target a pH level of 7.2 to 7.6

Use muriatic acid or dry acid to lower pH

Follow the product label for the correct dosage

Wear protective gloves and eyewear

Add acid to water, never water to acid

Pour the acid slowly into the deep end or in front of a return jet

Keep the pump running while adding the acid

Let the water circulate for several hours

Retest the pH after circulation

Repeat with small adjustments if needed

Check total alkalinity if pH keeps rising

Avoid lowering pH too quickly

Keep swimmers out of the pool until chemicals are fully mixed and levels are safe
