Measure the space where the cat tree will go
Choose a design with a stable base, vertical posts, and platforms
Gather materials such as plywood, carpet, sisal rope, screws, brackets, wood glue, and padding
Cut the base board to a wide, sturdy size
Cut wooden posts to the desired heights
Sand all wood edges smooth
Wrap the posts tightly with sisal rope and secure the ends
Attach the posts firmly to the base using screws and brackets
Cut and prepare platform pieces for each level
Cover platforms with carpet or soft fabric and staple underneath
Mount the platforms to the posts at staggered heights
Add a top perch or enclosed cubby if desired
Check that all parts are tight and stable
Reinforce any weak joints
Place the cat tree on a flat surface
Test the structure before letting the cat use it
Add toys, scratching sections, or cushions if desired
