Gather white paper, parchment paper, or lightweight fabric
Measure the head circumference
Cut a rectangle long enough to fit around the head with extra overlap
Cut a large circle or oval for the top
Fold the top edge of the rectangle into small pleats
Attach the pleated edge to the circle or oval
Join the ends of the rectangle to form a band
Secure the seam with glue, tape, staples, or stitching
Adjust the fit around the head
Trim any excess material
Add a sweatband or lining if needed
