How to Make a Lattice Pie Crust?

Chill the pie dough until firm but pliable

Roll out the bottom crust and fit it into the pie dish

Add the pie filling

Roll out the top crust into a rectangle or circle

Cut the top crust into even strips

Lay half the strips vertically across the pie

Fold back every other vertical strip halfway

Place one horizontal strip across the pie

Unfold the folded vertical strips over the horizontal strip

Fold back the alternate vertical strips

Place another horizontal strip across the pie

Repeat until the lattice is complete

Trim the overhanging dough

Press the edges together to seal

Crimp the edges

Brush with egg wash or milk

Sprinkle with sugar if desired

Bake according to the pie recipe
