Gather one sheet of lightweight paper, two thin sticks or straws, tape, scissors, string, and a hole punch or pen
Fold the paper in half lengthwise
Open the paper and place one stick along the center fold
Place the second stick across the first stick about one-third from the top to form a cross
Tape the sticks securely to the paper
Trim the paper into a diamond shape if needed
Reinforce the corners with tape
Make a small hole near the top center of the kite
Make a small hole near the bottom center of the kite
Tie string to the top hole and bottom hole
Tie a longer flying string to the center of the cross where the sticks meet
Add a tail made of paper strips or ribbon to the bottom
Test the kite in a light breeze
Adjust the string or tail if needed
