Start with a black pigment such as carbon black, lamp black, or ivory black
Add the pigment to a paint binder such as acrylic medium, oil medium, or latex base
Mix thoroughly until the color is fully dispersed
Adjust thickness with a compatible thinner or water if needed
Add small amounts of white or another color only if you want to change the shade of black
Test the paint on a sample surface and remix if needed
Store the finished paint in a sealed container
